Garlic and Herb Chicken

There’s something special about stepping onto the deck, hearing the sizzle of the grill, and knowing dinner is just minutes away. My husband and I recently built a deck, which means our grill finally moved out of the garage and into its rightful place—just outside the sliding door. No more lifting it over the lip of the garage floor; now, it’s as easy as turning on the propane.

On one of our first grill nights, I may have gone a little overboard—I made four different versions of chicken in one evening! From Curry Chicken to Jamaican Jerk, Chipotle Pepper, and this Garlic and Herb Chicken. Today I want to share with you the one that’s become a steady favorite: Garlic and Herb Chicken.

What is the best herb combination for chicken?

Honestly, that depends on the flavors you love most. But for us, this Garlic and Herb Chicken wins every time. Basil brings a touch of sweetness, oregano adds a little boldness, thyme gives earthy depth, parsley brightens with a hint of citrus, and garlic ties everything together. Simple, balanced, and full of flavor.

What to serve with garlic and herb chicken?

We’ve paired this chicken with so many different sides, depending on our mood. Here are a few favorites:

  • Baked potato and green beans
  • Grilled potatoes and peppers
  • Buttered brown rice with sautéed zucchini
  • Sliced on top of arugula and quinoa salad with fresh veggies and Lemon Honey Dijon Dressing
  • On toasted multi-grain bread with sliced onion, tomato, arugula, cheese of your choice, and a little mayo if you’d like

What is garlic and herb seasoning made of

The core of garlic and herb seasoning is simple: garlic powder, onion powder, and a blend of herbs like oregano, basil, thyme, and parsley. These pantry staples create a versatile seasoning that works not only for chicken but also for vegetables, potatoes, or even sprinkled over bread before toasting.

Can I freeze Garlic and Herb Chicken?

Yes! Allow it to cool completely, then store it in a freezer-safe bag labeled with the date. It keeps well for up to 2 months. For best results, thaw in the fridge before reheating to keep the chicken juicy.
